The Next Big Star Rebecca Black Offers “Friday” Proceeds To Charity

Rebecca Black Offers "Friday" Proceeds To Charity

There’s plenty of people saying Rebecca Black isn’t talented, but they can’t say she isn’t charitable.  The infamous “Friday” singer said on “The Tonight Show with Jay Leno” Tuesday that she’s donating the proceeds from her viral video smash to Japan and to her school.  The “Los Angeles Times” reports that the 13-year-old is earning just under 25-thousand dollars a week from the track’s sales.  Leno and Black also talked about the many parodies of her song that have appeared online.  She called some of them lame, but says there are a few that make her laugh.  Black then took to the stage to sing “Friday,” but the performance likely didn’t win her any new fans.  It appeared she was just lip synching the tune, with the backing track and vocals playing before Black even had the microphone to her lips.

Nevertheless, Black does have at least one new supporter.  Lady Gaga was asked about the young star during an interview at Google headquarters.  Gaga called Black a, quote, “genius,” but did admit that she hadn’t seen the video.
