No it’s not a useless number, there’s a meaning to it. It’s not the amount of sleeveless hoodies Bill Belichick has worn in the last year. It’s not the amount of women Tom Brady has dated in his lifetime. There is all time history behind it. It stands for the most wins of a quarterback and coach in NFL history. The incredible number belongs to the three- time super bowl champions Tom Brady and Bill Belichick, the most dominating coach-player duo in NFL history. That number is the result of countless film sessions, preparation, attention to detail, and outstanding game planning.

If you were to follow Tom Brady from his combine showing to draft day no one on earth would’ve thought he would end up being the man he is today. He was a 6th round pick, the 199th overall in the 2000 draft. He was looked at as a backup, maybe a starter with some improvement or stability, but nobody thought he’d end up being a Hall of fame quarterback. I hate sports cliché’s because of the corniness but they do tend to be true, especially in this case. He probably has had the biggest draft day “chip on his shoulder” in NFL history, for being drafted so late. So what has got Brady this far? Well a couple of things, his accuracy, his consistency, his practice and preparation, but most importantly it’s his competitiveness. He is insanely competitive, the most recent showing of this was a regular season game this season when Brady threw a interception and got into one of the most heated arguments you’ll ever see with his quarterback coach. (See here) That’s what separates him from an average player or even a great player, and elevates him to one of the greatest. He wants to be great he doesn’t shy away from it he attacks it like a challenge.

So now, 12 years after his draft day and with enough records to split in half with a ‘bust’ like Ryan leaf and still make him a Hall of Famer, Tom Brady finds himself in his 5th Super Bowl, which yes, you guessed it is another record. There is a wild twist to this one, this is (although not fully) the same team that denied him perfection. He faced the giants in the Super Bowl 5 years ago…his only loss on the big stage. He had arguably the greatest season for a quarterback ever with 50 touchdowns. Swept the regular season putting up crazy madden numbers scoring 40, and 50 on teams left and right. He made it all the way to the super bowl only to lose on a game winning drive to Eli manning and the Giants. Anybody who thinks Tom Brady, the competitive freak that he is doesn’t want to get revenge on the Giants and is just dumb. He can’t wait, like a kid who stays up until midnight on Christmas to open their presents. Guess who’s in his corner; his coach, the Genius, Bill Belichick, the man he’s been through numerous wars with over the last 12 years, and walked away with 124 Dubs in those battles. It’s pretty hard to bet against those two, dontcha think??

If you’re a football fan, avid or casual, then you’ve heard the rumblings. You’ve noticed how undoubtedly similar this New York Giants team is to the 2007 squad, a team that got on a hot streak late and went all the way to the Super Bowl and ended what would have been a historic season for the once 18-0 Patriots. Don’t get it twisted though; this is not the same exact team, they’re BETTER and for a couple of reasons.

A major contrast this team has with its 07’ counterpart is its absence of two former difference makers on both sides of the ball. On defense it was the well known sack king- Michael Strahan. Strahan holds the single season record for sacks and will most likely pass rush his way right into the hall of fame when he becomes eligible. On the other side of the ball it was Plaxico Burress. Yes the man who many non football fans would know for channeling his inner Cheddar Bob and shooting himself in the leg in a nightclub after the 2007 season. That incident (unfortunately) overshadowed his game clinching touchdown catch in the super bowl just days before.

Although, these guys are gone and were great in their Giant careers, they’ve been replaced with some youthful playmakers that any of the other 31 teams would love to have. The Giants (still) have a ferocious pass rush, who don’t fall too far from their super bowl tree ranked third this year with 48 sacks as opposed to the 50 they tallied in 07. Instead of Strahan this group is led by the second year phenom Jason Pierre Paul, who had a whopping 16.5 sacks this year. Veteran’s Justin Tuck and Osi Umenyiora, two holdovers from the Super Bowl team, are still there and balling. They also replaced Plaxico and that group of receivers with some young blood. The giants trio of Manningham, Cruz, and Nicks, who in particular is setting postseason receiving records, are playing at Pro Bowl levels right now.

The biggest reason why the Giants will win the Superbowl is Eli Manning. Yes the same Eli manning that threw a league high 25 interceptions one year ago and would often times have you scratching your head thinking “this guy is Peyton’s brother?!” Well this has been a career defining year for Eli as he ranked 7^th in passer rating, set a career high in yards and completions, while keeping his interceptions to a modest 16. The Same Eli who in the beginning of the season was mocked and ridiculed for saying he was an Elite quarterback. After winning his second playoff game in Lambeau field, one of the most difficult places to play, no one has a right to argue with him. He turned out a sensational performance and is the number one reason this team has had success this season. So with only 2 victories keeping him from his second Superbowl, the next time Eli says he’s elite, not a single person should laugh or chuckle, in fact he doesn’t even have to, his play says it all.

Drake had the internet going nuts over the summer with his hit, “Marvin’s Room.” the track might be the source of a big headache. The Canadian rapper is being sued by a woman named Ericka Lee. She claims she is the female voice on “Marvin’s Room” and hasn’t been compensated for her contribution. According to Lee, Drake acknowledged her part through text messages. The alleged messages read “U basically made that song” and “It’s sh*t without you.” Ericka Lee filed a claim back in July.

We all know about Cash Money’s track record with paying contributors, so good luck getting that money!

With Beyonce being a first-time mom, she wants to stay in one place for the first few years of Blue Ivy Carter’s life. Simon Cowell is looking to capitalize on that by getting Beyonce to sign on as a full-time judge on the American version of The X Factor. It was reported Cowell was looking to get Mariah Carey to replace Paula Abdul as judge. However, he’s having second thoughts after Nick Cannon’s “Mariah is too legendary” comment because he feels she isn’t as relevant as she once was.

Simon wants Beyonce because she is the biggest pop star in the world at this point and her involvement in the show would give it the boost to smash American Idol in ratings. Bey is familiar with the show. She’s performed on the British version and even mentored Alexandra Burke, who went on to win the British title. No comment has been made about the rumored deal from the Knowles-Carter camp.
