Personally, I have never dated my best friend. Unless you consider the fact that I think of my husband as not only my husband, but my best friend. However, I don’t think that counts. What I am talking about is when you take your best friend and make them into your boyfriend or girlfriend. While there are many pros to this, there are also some cons. Below, I am going to give you 7 reasons not to date your best friend …

7. You Could Ruin What You Have

You like the relationship you are already in, right? You enjoy having your best friend as your best friend, right? If you date your best friend, then you could end up losing your best friend altogether. Are you ready to ruin that relationship? Because best friends whodate hardly ever go back to being best friends.

6. It Might Not be Comfortable

You will feel almost as if you are dating your brother or sister. I know that if I were to date my best friend, I wouldn’t feel right. The best friend knows all your secrets, which could be good, but sometimes, it could be bad.

5. You Will Have to Find a New Best Friend

I don’t know about you, but it’s hard to find best friends and when you date one, you’ll have to start all over again. I find it much easier to keep the best friend you have.

4. You Won’t Be Able to Tell Your Deep Secrets You Can Only Tell to Your Best Friend

Do you know all those secrets you had? The ones you could only tell your best friend? The ones you couldn’t tell your boyfriend or girlfriend. Well, now, you will not have a best friend to tell those secrets to, because you will be dating your best friend!

When you need relationship advice, don’t you go to your best friend for that? Now, you will no longer be able to get that advice when you feel your relationship is in trouble. Who would you lose first – your partner or your best friend? I would say your partner. Best friends are there forever, unless you do something horrible. You will always have your best friend there, but the relationship with your partner could end.

How to Plan a Trip With Your Best Friend

Traveling with your best friend can be the journey of a lifetime, sharing your adventures and camaraderie as you explore exciting new places together. But the stresses of travel can bring out the worst in people as well, which can lead to arguing over lodging, money and who knows what else. Here are a few tips for a great trip that will end with your friendship still completely intact.

Take your time making the perfect plans. Planning the trip can actually be fun, discussing all the exciting possibilities of where to go and what to do, and you don’t want to rush into a decision you might regret later.

Pick your spot carefully. It’s key to find a place that will be equally enjoyable for both parties, and if you’re meeting up with a remotely located friend, it’s great to choose a locale that involves comparable travel for each of you. Be cautious about steering the direction of your plans-this should be a mutual decision that reflects both of your tastes and travel wants.

Be honest and realistic about your budgets. If you can only spend $50 a night for lodging, be upfront about it before you hit the road, and make sure to plan out how you’ll be sharing all the various expenses-from transportation to food to lodging to attractions. Don’t let your friendship be damaged over a financial matter, which can happen if you don’t get on the same page before embarking.

In addition to budgeting, decide on the details of your transportation as well. For example, on a cross-country drive, how long should the driving shifts be? Or is one of you paying for gas and the other driving? Once again, these details shouldn’t wait until you’re on the road.

Put your pet peeves out on the table during the planning process, so any serious problems can be dealt with ahead of time. If one of you lights up a pack a day, for example, and the other can’t stand smoke, you’ll need to reach a solution that satisfies both sides.

Well here’s some morning swexiness to get your ass out the bed. The newly married, and official blockbuster producer,Clifford “T.I.” Harris, is sexing up not one…but 2…covers of UPSCALE mag’s September/October 2010 issue.

We’ve got the first look at both dapperfied covers, plus why his arrogance is his best character trait, why being loyal gets tiresome, leaving hip-hop behind, and which specific quality he loves in a woman when you read on…

I do love a man in a tailored suit. Nice.

Here’s a few quotes from T.I. in this month’s issue:

On his new album:
This project just like all of my projects will be a open window into my life, what I’m going through, how I feel and where I am right now.

On where he is:
I’m still learning and growing everyday. I do believe this project is in some ways the final installment of a trilogy. TI vs. TIP being the first one…. I hope that events of my life are captured in music in all of my records. So they were there for the beginning, they saw the middle (with Paper Trail) and now the only thing left to be seen is the conclusion.

On the advice he’d give to young Clifford Harris:
I would say man, if you knew what I knew, you would chill out… I would tell myself you’re going to be alright later on, all you have to do is cool out, you might not see it right now, but you have a reason to fall back. I just hope that I would listen.

On his best and worst character traits:
I can manage to be arrogant or confident as well as be humble and possess a certain level of humility. I can be aggressive and I can also be mild mannered.

On his future in hip hop:
I know I still have the ability to do it, but I don’t know if I have as much passion to do it as I once did… I might find that I’m more effective in another capacity, but I won’t know if I don’t ever try. I have other talents and abilities that I may not be paying any attention to because I have this first one that I’m very fond of and I’ve grown attached to… As an artist I still would like to be better, but as an artist, I think TI has had a stellar career already.

On loyalty getting in the way of business:
…If I say I’m gonna ride with you, I’m gonna ride with you. That’s personally, professionally. So even if I know that you might not be all what everyone else thinks you’re cracked up to be, I’m still gonna ride it out with you. It does get tiresome and it does get gruesome at time, but I don’t know no other way to be.

On being a daddy:
I make them look up different places and ask them where would they like to go. I just spend time with them. I try to stimulate their interests and build on that.

On his favorite quality in a woman:
Just having that instinct of when to take charge and when to fall back.

Well this season of “Dancing With The Stars” ought to be semi-interesting. The 11th season cast was officially announced last night, and we’ve got the full line up when you read on….

YBFers like R&B singer/actress Brandy, who we reported last week was rumored to join the cast, baller turned actorRick Fox, and “That’s SO Raven” and “Cory In the House” Disney actor Kyle Massey will all be dancing their asses off this season.

Their competition: The original “Brady Bunch” mom Florence Henderson, teen mom Bristol Palin, actress Jennifer Grey of one of my fave movies DirtyDancing, the Hoff, “The Hills” reality star Audrina Patridge, comedienne Margret Cho, “Jersey Shore”’s Mike “The Situation” Sorrentino, football legend Kurt Warner, and singer Michael Bolton.

The season kicks off next Wednesday. I always have good intentions to watch the full season, but I never seem to get past the debut week. Oh wells…

BONUS:

Brandy Tweeted late last night about picking her daughter Sy’Rai up from he airport. The little one spent the sumer with her father and extended family. Sy’Rai is now 8.

Not many YBF folks hit the red carpet for Sunday night 2010 Emmy Awards. But the ones who did brought the fabness.

Boris and Nicole Kodjoe looked hot. Boris looked modelesque (his usual) in his black tux, while his wife Nicole rocked this pink and black lace strapless gown. Boris is starring in the lead role in the new NBC show “Undercovers”. It premieres September 22nd.

Blair Underwood, who also has the leading role on an NBC show this fall called “The Event”, hit the “Entertainment Tonight” platform with his wife.

And kicked it inside with his colleagues.

LL Cool J, the star of “NCIS: LA”, hit the carpet with his wife Simone. Nice.

Seal and Heidi Klum hit the carpet in style, as usual.

“Desperate Housewife” Eva Longoria hit the carpet in an all black Robert Rodriguez gown.

And her hubby Tony Parker showed up in a nice Brooks Brothers suit.

Tracy Morgan, co-star of “30 Rock“, got kissy faced with his girlfriend on the carpet.

This dude…

“True Blood” star Rutina Wesley rocked this black and white high slit gown and looked amazing.

7 Common Myths About Birth Control

Birth control has become amazing in the last few years. It’s now more protective than ever, almost 100% if used properly, and there is a type to suit most women. But, while the pill itself is getting better, our knowledge of it doesn’t seem to be. Recent studies showed that huge numbers of women believed myths about their birth control, and even more didn’t know what it did and how to use it effectively. Here are the most common myths, for the record…

1. The Pill Will Make You Fat

One of the earlier versions of the pill contained a high amount of estrogen and progesterone, which are both female hormones which can cause weight gain. Newer versions of the pill contain much lower levels, and so weight gain is much less likely. Only 20 to 25 per cent of women gain more then 2kg in the first year of usage, and 60 per cent have no weight change at all. 20 per cent actually lost more than 2kg! So don’t write off the pill due to this, as it is very rare, and if it occurs, you can simply change medication.

2. The Pill Offers Protection Against STDs

This one is quite shocking…my doctor made this really clear to me when I started taking the pill, but it appears other doctors aren’t quite so great. While the pill is very effective at protecting against pregnancy, it offers no protection against STDs, or HIV. Condoms are the only way to stay safe from these, and some infections such as herpes can even be spread when a condom is used if the infection is higher up then the condom.

3. Taking The Pill While Pregnant Will Cause An Abortion

Taking the pill will not cause you to abort the child if you are pregnant, but can cause some difficulties during the pregnancy due to the hormones involved. As soon as you suspect you are pregnant, stop taking the pill and go to see a doctor. They can confirm your pregnancy, and discuss your options with you.

4. If I Am On The Pill, I Cannot Get Pregnant

The pill is one of the most effective forms of birth control, but it isn’t foolproof. It is 96-99% effective if taken perfectly, but realistically, it is closer to 87%. To be effective, the pill has to be taken every day, at the same time. No days can be missed, and you would have to be in good health – ie not throwing up or suffering from diarrhoea, which could cause the pill to not be absorbed.

5. Taking The Pill For A Long Time Causes Infertility

You can take the pill for years and years and years, and it will not affect your fertility. The pill suppresses ovulation, to prevent pregnancy, but does not damage the ovaries. If you take it for a very long period, it could take a while for your periods to return to normal afterwards, but it will not damage your fertility. The standard advice is to wait for two menstrual cycles to pass before attempting to get pregnant.

6. I Should Take Frequent Breaks From The Pill To Reduce Side Effects

A lot of women believe that they need to take regular breaks from the pill or they will suffer from side effects, including headaches and stomach pains. The truth is that most women do not need a break from the pill, but if you are concerned, see your gynaecologist. They will be able to recommend whether or not you need a break, and if you do, sort out alternative contraception with you.

7. The Pill Will Make My Period Heavier

The pill will not make your periods heavier, and for most people, have the opposite effect! It is regularly prescribed to women who are struggling with heavier periods, as most people suffer from less menstrual cramps, pain and PMS symptoms while taking it. Your period is likely to be shorter, too.

It is really important to know the medication you are taking, how to take it and what the benefits and risks are! I struggled to remember about the pill when I started taking it, and I get forgetful even now, so I’ll be printing this off and putting it in the back of my diary.
