Chris Robinson Not A Taylor Swift Fan

While Taylor Swift has lots of fans, The Black Crowes’ Chris Robinson isn’t among them. The singer tells “Nylon Guys” magazine he’s not at all impressed with the 20-year-old country-pop crossover star, and doesn’t understand — or like — how much she’s praised. He doesn’t mince words as he states, quote, “I find it embarrassing that adults are like, ‘Taylor Swift is very talented.’ She’s not. She might be cute, but she’s horrible.” Robinson also admits there are very few modern stars he likes, claiming fans aren’t seeing an artist but an image. He explains, quote, “They have stylists who dress them, they make records with producers who play a chord into the computer and it all comes out the same.” The rocker adds, quote, “When you have computers doing it all for you…there’s no individuality. Singing isn’t always about being on key; it’s about emotionality.”

The Black Crowes have been looking back on their tumultuous two-decade career this year, with last month’s arrival of the retrospective set “Croweology,” which features acoustic renditions of their hits, and the “20 Years of Tall Tales” webisode series. The Black Crowes are currently on their “Goodbye to the Bad Guys” tour, and will be performing in Charleston, South Carolina on Friday. This weekend the band will be honored by their home state of Georgia. The Black Crowes will be inducted into the Georgia Music Hall of Fame in a ceremony in North Atlanta on Saturday.

Weezer Connecting “Hurley” With Hurley Clothes

Weezer is taking advantage of an obvious tie-in with the Hurley clothing company this fall. The group is backing the company’s “Hurley Rocks You Back To School” promotion. Beginning Friday, PacSun stores will begin stocking Weezer-inspired men’s and women’s wovens, t-shirts, and hoodies. Drummer Pat Wilson says, quote, “It was swell working with the good people at Hurley on our first adventure into a clothing line. My favorite piece we’ve created is the zip-up hoodie — especially for those cool fall nights.” Weezer has also worked out a deal with Hurley to stock their “Hurley” album at PacSun outlets as of Friday — four days prior to the street date — and there will be nationwide listening parties at all PacSun locations. Weezer’s “Hurley” officially arrives September 14th.

Rolling Stones’ Film To Spend One-Night Only On Big Screen

A feature film commemorating The Rolling Stones’ tour for the 1972 album “Exile On Main Street” is returning to the big screen next week. The 1974 release “Ladies & Gentlemen…The Rolling Stones” is receiving a one-night-only cinema run next Thursday, September 16th, according to MusicWeek.com. Eagle Rock Entertainment and Omniverse Vision are collaborating with hundreds of exhibitors to screen the film throughout the UK and the United States. The “Ladies & Gentlemen” re-release features archive footage from the band’s 1972 trek through North America as well as new interviews with Stones frontman Mick Jagger.

“Ladies & Gentlemen” marks the second feature documentary surrounding the Rolling Stones’ classic “Exile On Main Street” to emerge this year. The 2010 rock doc “Stones In Exile” — which centers on the making-of the album — got a worldwide premiere on the American talk show, “Late Night With Jimmy Fallon” in early May. Later that month, the film screened at the Cannes Film Festival. “Stones In Exile” is available on DVD now.

John Lennon’s Killer Denied Parole For A Sixth Time

The man who took John Lennon’s life will spend more of his own behind bars. CNN reports that Mark David Chapman, the now 55-year-old who shot Lennon outside his Manhattan home in 1980, was denied parole for a sixth time on Tuesday. A three-member panel of New York state’s Parole Board Commission didn’t give the reason for denying parole. Chapman is being held at the maximum security Attica Correctional Facility and was interviewed by video linkup for his parole hearing. Chapman was last eligible for parole in 2008. At that time, the parole board cited “concern for the public safety and welfare” as its reason for denying his release.

Earlier this year, an attorney for Lennon’s widow, Yoko Ono, confirmed that his client submitted a letter to prison officials requesting that Chapman remain incarcerated. Ono has written a similar plea to authorities every two years since Chapman first became eligible for parole one decade ago.

Kings of Leon Let Go Of “Radioactive” Material

Kings Of Leon is about a week away from releasing their first single off the “Come Around Sundown” album, and they couldn’t be happier to be done with the song “Radioactive.” In a preview video posted on the band’s YouTube account, they reveal that the track has been with them since their “Aha Shake Heartbreak” album, but was never right until now. Jared Followill says the addition of a children’s gospel choir was the key ingredient. He explains, quote, “We went into the studio and we tried it and it wasn’t really working, so we were going to scrap the whole song. But then Caleb went back to this old spiritual song that we all sang growing up.”

Drummer Nathan Followill jokes, quote, “After my grandma sees this video, she definitely won’t think we’re going to hell as fast as she did think we were going.” The song debuts at their website tomorrow and arrives at radio the week of September 13th. The “Come Around Sundown” album follows on October 19th.

Slash Making A Three-D “Sword”

Slash already has a video for “By The Sword,” but the clip will get a multi-dimensional update in the near future. The guitarist tells Spinner.com, quote, “We’re applying three-D to it after the fact. It’s actually the perfect video for it because it’s got a lot of depth shots and shots where everything stops, freezes, and stuff is moving around it, so the three-D of that will look cool.” The video also features the song’s vocalist, Wolfmother’s Andrew Stockdale. Slash is also planning another clip from his self-titled solo effort. He recently revealed via Twitter that during his stint in Los Angeles for the Sunset Strip Music Festival, he was planning to shoot a video with Fergie that came from a concept she had for “Beautiful Dangerous,” the song she contributed to his album.

Guns N’ Roses Dodge Bottles In Ireland

Entertainment.ie reports that the rockers exited early last Wednesday night performance at Dublin’s O2 arena after a bottle was thrown onstage. The band started their set over an hour after opener Danko Jones left the stage. Once they began, several bottles were hurled toward the stage. This led Axl Rose to warn the unruly crowd, quote, “One more bottle, we go home. It’s up to you. We would like to stay. You want us to stay? We wanna stay. We wanna have some fun.” The band played three more songs, but between songs — as Rose was introducing the group — another bottle shot out from the crowd. The rocker made good on his word. He and the rest of the band exited the stage.

O2 staff members reportedly spent more than a half-hour trying to quell the crowd without success. Guns N’ Roses eventually returned to perform for a what was described as a “small but pretty irate crowd.”

Tony Blair Says Bono Could Run A Country

Former UK Prime Minister Tony Blair thinks that Bono has what it takes to run a country. Spinner.com cites excerpts from Blair’s new memoir in which he writes that the U2 rocker would have been a better choice to succeed him than Gordon Brown. In the book, titled “A Journey,” the former PM says Bono, quote, “could have been a president or prime minister standing on his head. He had an absolutely natural gift for politicking, was great with people, very smart and an inspirational speaker…motivated by an abundant desire to keep on improving, never really content or relaxed.”

Bono has expressed his admiration for Blair over the years, too. In 2007, immediately preceding Blair’s exit from office, Bono told NME.com, quote, “What I admire the most about Tony Blair is that despite all accusations of a slick PR machine, spin doctoring and the like, he has almost all of the time exposed himself to bad press and outcry for doing the things he believed in.”

Stone Temple Pilots Back Weiland

Stone Temple Pilots bassist Robert DeLeo is backing frontman Scott Weiland. Questions about whether Weiland uses a backing track in concert began to surface after a recent show in which he fell from the stage but kept singing without missing a beat. DeLeo tells “The Weekender” the allegations are a bunch of bunk. He adds, quote, “It’s so funny, because first off, if anyone in this band was lip-synching or faking it, I wouldn’t be up there.” DeLeo adds, quote, “I don’t know how he didn’t get hurt. He fell six feet off the stage in between the stage and sub monitors. No one in the band saw what happened. We just saw him get back on stage. That’s the kind of makeup he has as a person.” Stone Temple Pilots are on the road in support of their recently released self-titled album.

Insane Clown Posse Says Beef With Eminem Is Over

Eminem’s beef with fellow Detroit rappers Insane Clown Posse is a thing of the past. ICP sat down with MTV News and explained that they’ve been able to move past their differences. Shaggy 2 Dope remarks, quote, “The beef we had with him was eleven years ago. That’s like beefing with somebody in high school and going to your 20th high school reunion, and you still have heat with that kid.” Violent J says they were actually able to end their dispute with Eminem a few years ago, thanks in part to late D12 member Proof. He explains, quote, “He contacted us and we had a bowling game – it was really cool. We’re something different. They could have skipped over us and said forget them, but they included us and said let’s squash it.”

The Insane Clown Posse made headlines earlier this summer when Method Man and reality TV star Tila Tequila were hit with objects from the crowd during a Gathering of the Juggalos concert – an annual event for Insane Clown Posse fans. Eminem, meantime, is currently taking part in a concert of his own. He kicked off his four-show run with Jay-Z at Detroit’s Comerica Park on Thursday. The duo will perform a second show in Detroit tonight, and then head to New York’s Yankee Stadium for shows on September 13th and 14th.
