Chris Robinson Not A Taylor Swift Fan

While Taylor Swift has lots of fans, The Black Crowes’ Chris Robinson isn’t among them. The singer tells “Nylon Guys” magazine he’s not at all impressed with the 20-year-old country-pop crossover star, and doesn’t understand — or like — how much she’s praised. He doesn’t mince words as he states, quote, “I find it embarrassing that adults are like, ‘Taylor Swift is very talented.’ She’s not. She might be cute, but she’s horrible.” Robinson also admits there are very few modern stars he likes, claiming fans aren’t seeing an artist but an image. He explains, quote, “They have stylists who dress them, they make records with producers who play a chord into the computer and it all comes out the same.” The rocker adds, quote, “When you have computers doing it all for you…there’s no individuality. Singing isn’t always about being on key; it’s about emotionality.”

The Black Crowes have been looking back on their tumultuous two-decade career this year, with last month’s arrival of the retrospective set “Croweology,” which features acoustic renditions of their hits, and the “20 Years of Tall Tales” webisode series. The Black Crowes are currently on their “Goodbye to the Bad Guys” tour, and will be performing in Charleston, South Carolina on Friday. This weekend the band will be honored by their home state of Georgia. The Black Crowes will be inducted into the Georgia Music Hall of Fame in a ceremony in North Atlanta on Saturday.

Beyonce Reaches Settlement Over Video Lawsuit

Beyonce has settled her legal beef with a California man. Philip Markowitz tells TMZ.com that he received a five-figure settlement to drop his lawsuit against the singer and her production company. Markowitz filed suit back in May, claiming Beyonce and her crew trespassed onto his Hollywood Hills property while shooting the video for her song “Why Don’t You Love Me.” Markowitz says he’s happy with the settlement, but notes, quote, “this lawsuit shouldn’t have happened in the first place.” He adds, quote, “They set up on my property without asking and [the settlement] should send a notice to other production companies that they need to respect the rights of property owners.”

“Why Don’t You Love Me” is featured on Beyonce’s “I Am…Sasha Fierce” album. The record has sold nearly three-million copies in the United States since its release in 2008.

Russian Rapper Raven Is Here To Change The Game In Indy

RAVEN “The Mad Russian” given name, Alexandr S. Gringauz, is an aspiring rapper born in the former Soviet Union. Raven emigrated from Russia at age five with both parents and younger brother. They settled on the North West side of Indianapolis. Growing up in a subsidized urban community, young Raven absorbed the hip hop culture that surrounded him, not only the music but also its way of life.

Raven began writing rap music at age 12 and by age 16 he began recording. At age 18 Raven was operating a digital recording studio with his younger brother Boris. By age 19, Raven released two Underground mix tapes one entitled RAW, collaborating with artist A-WALL followed by a solo album entitled “Wizeguy”. By this time Raven had become a young adult, with financial obligations. Raven turned to the streets for financial support. He soon found himself engaged in heavy legal trouble facing possible imprisonment. Ultimately, Raven was sentenced to serve two years on house arrest. During this time, Raven found himself naturally returning to his first passion, music. With his new found free time, he began to educate himself on different aspects of the music business. He began writing and recording, with a much more passionate and serious demeanor, gaining respect and attention.

Raven came to the realization that music is his calling, investing heavily into his music career. He has been performing at many hot nightclubs throughout Indianapolis and has also been the opening act for many major recording artists. Raven is currently doing shows, pushing his music in the streets as well as the internet, and working on his mix tape soon to be released later this year.

Personally, I have never dated my best friend. Unless you consider the fact that I think of my husband as not only my husband, but my best friend. However, I don’t think that counts. What I am talking about is when you take your best friend and make them into your boyfriend or girlfriend. While there are many pros to this, there are also some cons. Below, I am going to give you 7 reasons not to date your best friend …

7. You Could Ruin What You Have

You like the relationship you are already in, right? You enjoy having your best friend as your best friend, right? If you date your best friend, then you could end up losing your best friend altogether. Are you ready to ruin that relationship? Because best friends whodate hardly ever go back to being best friends.

6. It Might Not be Comfortable

You will feel almost as if you are dating your brother or sister. I know that if I were to date my best friend, I wouldn’t feel right. The best friend knows all your secrets, which could be good, but sometimes, it could be bad.

5. You Will Have to Find a New Best Friend

I don’t know about you, but it’s hard to find best friends and when you date one, you’ll have to start all over again. I find it much easier to keep the best friend you have.

Sean Penn Responds To Wyclef’s Cocaine Allegations

Oscar winner Sean Penn is responding to Wyclef Jean’s allegations that he uses cocaine. A representative for the actor tells AllHipHop.com that the difficult conditions in Haiti make it nearly impossible for anyone to do drugs. The rep states, quote, “Mr. Jean is clearly unfamiliar with the physical demands put upon volunteers in Haiti. As aid workers there, the notion of depleting the body’s immune system thru the use of illicit drugs is ludicrous.” The rep says that Sean Penn’s J/P Haitian Relief Organization has a zero-tolerance policy for drug use, which Penn takes very seriously. The rep adds, quote, “That Mr. Jean would make such a false accusation is reckless and saddening, but not surprising.”

The feud between Penn and Jean began when the former Fugees star decided to run for president of Haiti. Penn was critical of Wyclef’s campaign, noting that the emcee hasn’t been involved in helping the country recover from last January’s earthquake. Wyclef voiced his displeasure with Penn last Friday, telling a concert crowd that the actor didn’t notice the work he had been doing in Haiti because Penn was, quote, “too busy snorting cocaine.” Wyclef’s attempt to run for president of Haiti was cut short last month after he failed to meet the country’s residency requirements.

Weezer Connecting “Hurley” With Hurley Clothes

Weezer is taking advantage of an obvious tie-in with the Hurley clothing company this fall. The group is backing the company’s “Hurley Rocks You Back To School” promotion. Beginning Friday, PacSun stores will begin stocking Weezer-inspired men’s and women’s wovens, t-shirts, and hoodies. Drummer Pat Wilson says, quote, “It was swell working with the good people at Hurley on our first adventure into a clothing line. My favorite piece we’ve created is the zip-up hoodie — especially for those cool fall nights.” Weezer has also worked out a deal with Hurley to stock their “Hurley” album at PacSun outlets as of Friday — four days prior to the street date — and there will be nationwide listening parties at all PacSun locations. Weezer’s “Hurley” officially arrives September 14th.

Rolling Stones’ Film To Spend One-Night Only On Big Screen

A feature film commemorating The Rolling Stones’ tour for the 1972 album “Exile On Main Street” is returning to the big screen next week. The 1974 release “Ladies & Gentlemen…The Rolling Stones” is receiving a one-night-only cinema run next Thursday, September 16th, according to MusicWeek.com. Eagle Rock Entertainment and Omniverse Vision are collaborating with hundreds of exhibitors to screen the film throughout the UK and the United States. The “Ladies & Gentlemen” re-release features archive footage from the band’s 1972 trek through North America as well as new interviews with Stones frontman Mick Jagger.

“Ladies & Gentlemen” marks the second feature documentary surrounding the Rolling Stones’ classic “Exile On Main Street” to emerge this year. The 2010 rock doc “Stones In Exile” — which centers on the making-of the album — got a worldwide premiere on the American talk show, “Late Night With Jimmy Fallon” in early May. Later that month, the film screened at the Cannes Film Festival. “Stones In Exile” is available on DVD now.

John Lennon’s Killer Denied Parole For A Sixth Time

The man who took John Lennon’s life will spend more of his own behind bars. CNN reports that Mark David Chapman, the now 55-year-old who shot Lennon outside his Manhattan home in 1980, was denied parole for a sixth time on Tuesday. A three-member panel of New York state’s Parole Board Commission didn’t give the reason for denying parole. Chapman is being held at the maximum security Attica Correctional Facility and was interviewed by video linkup for his parole hearing. Chapman was last eligible for parole in 2008. At that time, the parole board cited “concern for the public safety and welfare” as its reason for denying his release.

Earlier this year, an attorney for Lennon’s widow, Yoko Ono, confirmed that his client submitted a letter to prison officials requesting that Chapman remain incarcerated. Ono has written a similar plea to authorities every two years since Chapman first became eligible for parole one decade ago.
