Rusty Redenbacher has been a presence in the Indianapolis music scene for the last two decades. From beginning his career in the influential Birdmen Of Alcatraz straight through to his tenure as a mixer/personality on Hot 96.3 to his current position as voice of the Mudkids, he has managed to be a consistent advocate of civic pride, insightful lyrics, and all-around good vibes. His energy is contagious and limitless. Whether he is on the mic, on the turntables, or on the screen, something good is going on when Rusty is in the house.
Born in Gary, IN and raised in Indianapolis, Redenbacher has proudly represented Indiana in his travels and will continue to do so. Rusty has toured the country several times with Mudkids (voted ‘Indy’s Best Hip-Hop Group’ NUVO Readers’ Poll ’09) and as a DJ (voted ‘Indy’s Best Club DJ, NUVO readers’ poll ’09), always draping the ‘Indiana’ state flag over the front of the decks.
Redenbacher began hosting on IMC as a fill-in and was happy to be asked to host ‘The Rock Block‘. Seems like an odd thing, a rapper hosting a rock show; but when you watch the show, you’ll understand that Rusty has a love for all sorts of music. Redenbacher has also started writing a weekly column, ‘Backspin’ for Metromix, showcasing events and personalities from Indianapolis.
He’s a man of the people and a rockstar. He’s hip-hop and heavy metal. He’s a singular personality and he’s one of us. He’s Rusty Redenbacher…THE MUDKID!…and he’s on IMC’s ‘THE ROCK BLOCK’ every weekday at 4 pm.
